Stylist-turned-shoe-designer Tabitha Simmons was born in England in 1971. After studying film at Kingston University, Tabitha began a career as a stylist, working as the fashion director for 'V' magazine and as a regular contributor to Dazed and Confused and Another Magazine. Working with her photographer husband Craig McDean and the likes of Glen Luchford and Steven Klein and fashion designers Calvin Klein, Alexander McQueen and Zac Posen for whom she has styled catwalk shows.

Since 2009 Tabitha has juggled her high-profile styling career with her seasonal collection of Italian-made directional fashion footwear. From ankle booties to beaded stilettos, espadrilles to kitten heels, Tabitha’s varied designs are a testament to her personal love of beautiful and unusual shoes (she names each style after one of her nearest and dearest fashionista girlfriends). Tabitha currently lives and works in New York.

News about Tabitha Simmons

“Tap-dancer” ft. Tabitha Simmons

Our favourite stylist-turned-shoe-designer Tabitha Simmons has enlisted her uber-talented husband Craig McDean (the acclaimed New York fashion photographer) to bring her Fall Winter 2011-12 collection to life on film.

A tuxedo triumph

Tabitha Simmons 'Edna'

A personal favourite of Coccodrillo’s Eddy Michiels, the ‘Edna’ shoe from Miss TABITHA SIMMONS‘ Fall Winter 2011-12 collection features a severe point, a skinny heel and lace-up with a contrast apron.

This very chic white-on-black combination would pair beautifully with a longline trouser (dramatically flared or slim and cropped) or a figure-hugging pencil skirt and pussybow blouse.

Nautical but nice…

Talking Tabitha

Tabitha Simmons photographed by her husband Craig McDean

British stylist Tabitha Simmons has switched sides of the fashion game – from rifling through the Vogue closets to designing what’s inside them.

With her eponymous range of luxurious, super-feminine shoes, she has firmly entrenched her name as an independent designer in an industry rife with copycats and rather homogenous high heels. Her designs echo a global sensibility for fashion, as a New York-based Brit with an aesthetic perspective wrought in the ateliers of McQueen and Dolce & Gabbana, and in the studio with photographers such as Glen Luchford, Steven Meisel and husband Craig McDean.

Tabitha took a minute out of her crazy schedule for New York fashion week and the SS11 campaign season to chat about her creations with Dan Thawley for Coccodrillo Blog.
